Film Review
“Schindler’s List”
This movie is really a heart-breaking masterpiece. This is considered as one of the greatest film ever made in film history, a true classic.
This movie shows why the 20th century became the cruelest, most violent and the bloodiest period in human history. It tells about Oskar Schindler, a member of the Nazi party, womanizer, businessman, and a war profiteer on how he saved almost 1,100 Jews from brutal, inhuman death.
A very deep sympathy will come into your heart on how Steven Spielberg showcases every detail in every scene, on how thousands of human beings have been died in vain.
The movie is shown in black and white instead of colour to really feel the reality and the time it happened.
This movie won in the Academy Awards as was recognized and acknowledged by the different Film Critics and film Award giving bodies all over the world.
This movie also made some controversies and noise before it was shown here in the
Philippines
, because this movie contains some frontal men and women nudity, bed-pumping scenes and maximum violence. That’s why it is being hold by our so-called “MTRCB”. The MTRCB advised the distributors of the film to cut or take out the scenes which contains the above mentioned details, otherwise, the film will not be shown in the
Philippines
. So, as the director of the film, the distributors informed Steven Spielberg about the advisory of MTRCB. But, contrary on the advisory, Steven Spielberg did not agree in the cutting and taking out of any single second on the film. He then said: (in my own understanding on his (S.S) statement.)
“I don’t even care if it will not be shown in your country, I will not let anybody to ruin, devastate or cut into pieces in any way my masterpiece. I made it to tell the world the true events happened, and not to arouse anyone with those some nude scenes.” (Oh, ‘di ba? Hanep sa statement… buti nga sa MTRCB.. mashado epal…)
So, as a result, our President decided to show the Film in theatres, as is, complete and uncut.
This film is highly recommended. Please watch it. It will really touch your heart. For sure.

Another film worth watching is Roman Polanski's "The Pianist" which also shows the plight of Jews in Poland during the Nazi Regime.
